All I'm Sayin' Is...🫦
Today is Sunday,
and this
weekend has been
something else.

My children
—grown now—
—making grown decisions—
aren’t really understanding
my personal goals.

And listen,
I get it
everyone’s not the same,
and we don’t have to be.

But I do wish
they understood
that although
I love them,
our personal goals
don’t always line up.

And that’s okay.

Because
I am their mother,
yes…
but I am also
a woman,
a person,
with hopes,
dreams,
and goals
that have nothing
to do
with them.

The funny part?

They talk
to me
about everything.

Everything meaning
—everything they choose to talk to me about.

And in turn,
I try to empathize,
—to put myself in their shoes.

Just like
when they were kids,
I’ll say things like,
“Well, if it were me…”
or
“If I were in your shoes…”

But now?

The same words
suddenly mean
I’m “self-centered.”
I get hit with,
“It’s not about you, Mom.”

THE FUCK?!

They’re not
teenagers anymore
—these are grown folks—
in their 30s!

So yeah…
we’re not exactly
vibing right now.
