All I’m Sayin’ Is...🫦
You ever notice
how “being different” sounds cute
until it’s you?
Lately,
I'm checking out
some of these different story lines
that are popping up all over
everywhere.
I mean,
it's on Snapchat, YouTube,
Instagram, Facebook,
I ain't even ever
been on X
or Twitter 🤷🏾♀️
but somehow
those are getting sent to my phone too!
Thank you, Son. 😏
But it seems to me,
like lately,
a lot of people are loving
the idea
or concept,
or identifying or calling themselves
some kind of rebel,
ya' know
the one who
“don’t follow the rules.”
And,
I get it!
I mean,
I really get it! 🤔
In theory,
being the outcast sounds cool.
But,
in real life,
the load is heavy. 🏋🏾♀️
All I'm Sayin' Is...🫦
being a
"Black Sheep"🐑
isn’t some cool trend
or a
badge of honor.
I mean think about it...
People in the past who
think
a little deeper,
question
what others accept,
feel
what most people try
their damnedest
to ignore💭
Malcolm X
Martin Luther King Jr.
Ghandi
Nat Turner
Jesus Christ
Just to name a few.
All I'm Sayin' Is...🫦
Being a Black Sheep🐑
Isn't something
you wake up one morning
a just decide to be.
It isn't really even a label that should exist.
It's lonely at times.
You can feel
misunderstood,
even when
your intentions come from love.
Being a Black Sheep means
you’re often
the one who sees through
"the noise"
— who speaks up —
when silence feels safer.
It means
you've stopped going to war
with yourself
to keep
everybody else comfortable.
You’d rather
stand alone in truth
than sit
surrounded by lies.
And somehow,
these qualities make you the problem.
You often
hear things said like,
“You always gotta do things your own way.”
Damn right.
Because,
compromising your integrity,
costs you pieces
of yourself
you can't afford to lose.
And still
— you love them—
🩷
You forgive them.
You hope
one day
they’ll see you
for who
you really are,
not just who
they've made you out to be.
You learn
to accept
that some folks
can only meet you
where they are,
— not where you’ve grown to.
And that’s okay.
God has a way
of sending people
to you.
People who see your light.
You come to realize
your difference
—is your design—
and you
stop chasing belonging.
You build peace.
You walk in purpose.
So yeah,
being a Black Sheep
is kind of
like being rebel,
in the sense that
you're rebelling
against
"something".
All I’m Sayin’ Is…🫦
But being
a Black Sheep
is based in
making the choice
to do
the right thing
even when
everyone else doesn't.
