Be Careful What You Ask For

One of the things
I used to tell my children
when they were small
is that whatever
they wanted in life
—they could have.
I truly believed that,
and I still do.
But I always made sure
they understood this too:
the path they take
to get there
may look completely
different from someone else’s.
Somebody else
might “arrive”
at the same place
before you,
but that doesn’t mean
the road you're on won't lead you there.
Your steps are your own.
Your struggles,
your lessons,
your victories
—they belong to you.
I also warned them
to be careful
about what they
set their hearts on.
Because
when you put your mind,
energy,
and determination
toward something,
you will in fact achieve it.
That’s the power of intention,
and it’s real.
It reminds me
of a quote
that has always stayed with me:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”— Marianne Williamson
That’s the truth right there.
It’s not our weaknesses
that shake us
—it’s our power.
The ability
to dream something,
to believe it,
to claim it,
and to make it real.
That’s the blessing
and
the responsibility.
So,
I told my kids then,
and I’m sayin' it to myself again now:
don’t let fear of
greatness stop you.
Don’t shrink back
because your path looks different.
Whatever you want,
you can have.
Just know
that your power
lies in believing
it’s possible
and
being ready
for what comes with it.
All I’m sayin’ is…🫦
be careful what you ask for.
Because if you set your mind
and your steps to it
—you will arrive.
